Calculation Methods
Prayer times for Fajr and Isha depend on how you define "dawn" and "dusk" — specifically the angle below the horizon at which the sky begins to lighten. Different scholarly bodies have adopted different angles based on their geographic region and research.
PrayCalc supports all major methods. Switch between them instantly and see the exact difference in your times. Most Muslims in North America use ISNA; most in the UK use MWL; most in Egypt use the Egyptian General Authority method.
| Method | Fajr Angle | Isha Angle |
|---|---|---|
| ISNA | 15° | 15° |
| Muslim World League | 18° | 17° |
| Egyptian General Auth. | 19.5° | 17.5° |
| Umm al-Qura | 18.5° | 90 min after Maghrib |
| Tehran | 17.7° | 14° |
| Karachi (Hanafi) | 18° | 18° |
